Sand is one of the most open-ended play materials there is. A well-designed sandpit becomes a building site, a kitchen, a beach or a laboratory, and the right equipment around it turns digging into cooperative, hands-on play. Our sand play range is built for public and school settings: robust timber, stainless and galvanised steel, and HDPE construction, certified to BS EN 1176 for unsupervised public use.
The range
- Robinia Square Sandpit — a generous 2.45 m square sandpit framed in solid robinia timber, with a low edge that doubles as seating. Ideal for nurseries and early years settings.
- Commercial Sand Digger — a fixed stainless-steel excavator with a moulded seat, letting children swing, scoop and dump sand like real machine operators.
- Inclusive Wheelchair-Accessible Sand Digger — an open-frame digger children can operate directly from their wheelchair, with no transfer required.
- Wheelchair-Accessible Sandpit & Educational Panel Play Unit — a raised, wheelchair-height sandpit with tactile panels, a slide and a ramp-accessed tower, so every child can play side by side.
- Voyager Junior Play Ship — a nautical multiplay structure combining climbing and sliding with an integrated sand play area.
Why sand play works so hard
Digging, scooping, pouring and building develop fine and gross motor skills, upper-body strength and persistence, while shared sandpits encourage turn-taking, negotiation and imaginative role play. Sand is also a strong sensory material, which makes it valuable in early years (EYFS) provision and SEND settings alike.
Inclusive sand play
Traditional ground-level sandpits can exclude children who use wheelchairs. Raised sand tables and wheelchair-accessible diggers bring the same play to seated height, helping schools and councils create genuinely inclusive play spaces.
