What is a zip wire?

A zip wire — also called a zip line, cableway or aerial runway — is a playground ride where a seat or grip runs along a tensioned steel cable, carrying children from a raised start down a gentle slope and gliding them to a controlled stop. It's one of the most exciting pieces you can put in a play area: fast, a little daring and endlessly repeatable, building confidence, grip strength and a real sense of adventure. Because a single run draws a queue of its own, a zip wire often becomes the signature feature of a scheme.

The range

Our zip wire range spans single-line, double and compact track-ride formats, so there's a fit for almost any space and budget, with prices from £5,845:

  • Single-line zip wires — the galvanised-steel Skyline Commercial Zip Wire and the natural-timber Robinia Commercial Zip Wire, each a full-length cableway with a moulded seat and self-braking trolley.
  • Double racing zip wires — the Racer Double Zip Wire, with two parallel runs of up to 30 metres so children can race side by side.
  • Compact track rides — the Curved Track Ride, a rigid curved-rail aerial runway that delivers a fast, self-slowing glide where a full-length zip wire won't fit.

Built for busy public playgrounds

Our zip wires are built from heavy-duty galvanised and stainless steel — or naturally durable robinia-acacia timber — with reinforced traversing cables, self-braking trolleys and anti-corrosion, plastic-capped fixings. Every unit is manufactured to BS EN 1176 and backed by our standard warranty: 48 months on the whole unit, 10 years on HDPE panels and 15 years on structural steelwork. Impact-absorbing surfacing appropriate to the free-fall height is required along the length of the run, and we can advise on the right surface and safety zone for your site.

Who installs Morti zip wires

Our zip wire range is specified by primary and secondary schools, local authorities and parish councils, housing developers, holiday parks, farm parks, campsites and visitor attractions — anywhere with the space for a fast, high-draw ride. We're happy to provide the specifications and quotations needed to support a funding bid or tender, including school capital budgets, Section 106 contributions and local grants.
